She graduated from Constance Billard School for Girls, where she had gone to school since Kindergarten, along with her best Serena van der Woodsen. She dated boyfriend Nate Archibald for two years before they finally split up when she was 17.

She was involved with Chuck Bass briefly during her Sophomore year at Constance. It didn’t last long, but it was intense nevertheless.

Her life up until this point has been fairly privileged, but less than perfect. She decided to go to KSU after her she blew her Yale interview and didn’t get into her dream school.

Blair comes into the room and sits primly in the centre of the couch in her therapist’s office. This was not something she wanted to be doing. It was something her mother had insisted on after she had begged to go stay with her father in France for a semester and then changed her mind almost instantly. Really it was Serena who changed her mind for her, but that didn’t seem to matter.

She sat, challenging the older woman with her gaze. It was a game they’d played every week. A stare-down until Blair finally decided to talk. The so-called doctor, for her part, just sat, scribbling notes on her pad.

“There are just some things in life in which the only way to handle things that seems logical at the time is the most insane and self-destructive paths a person could possibly even think of taking.”

The doctor nodded slightly in acknowledgement. Blair shifted uncomfortably and stared at her nails. She felt like her world had been knocked off its axis entirely. In a matter of minutes, really, she had gone from trying on the stunning Cornelius Vanderbilt ring that was to be her engagement ring in front of her mother and Nate's parents to being single... which, for all the problems their relationship had lately aside, was the last thing she wanted. She’d loved him for longer than she can really remember. It's just something that's always been. The fact that she was going to end up with Nate was this forgone conclusion that Blair was more than thrilled about. Unfortunately the man she loved more than anything apparently loves my her best friend more than anything. How that happened Blair couldn't even begin to guess, but despite what she said to Chuck about feeling relieved, the reality was that she felt mostly feel decimated.

“Chuck goaded me into getting on stage at the Victrola, and really at the time it seemed like I didn't have anything else left to lose so what could it hurt? It's not like it's a strip club... burlesque's all about the tease, the hint of something more. It was actually sort of... freeing, I guess, to be up on stage like that. None of the usual rules or restrictions applied. But the whole thing was so completely the opposite of what I'm usually like that I'm sure I felt something inside me snap when I decided to get up there and step out of my dress. Blair Waldorf doesn't make the scandals, she looks down on those that do with total scorn.” The last part was definitely true, and she was fully aware she was more judgemental than she had a right to be most of the time.

“And if things had ended there, everything would have been fine. No harm, no foul. No more damage done to my ever-crumbling life than had already been to that point,” Blair took a breath and looked back up at the older woman, “I should have put my dress back on, and taken a cab home alone. Instead I've done something I can't take back with someone I'm not sure I can count on to keep his mouth shut. And I have no idea what I'm going to do if this gets out.”

Any other therapist would have asked her to explain what that thing was, but Blair had walked out of the session the first time the woman had decided talking was a smart idea, so she knew better. Blair twisted on the couch and turned to look out the window.

“The thing is… for those few moments on stage in a place where escape is the name of the game? The temporary insanity was almost nice,” Blair commented quietly.
